Over the last 6 months, Lewes District Food Partnership has awarded grants to projects building local food security by developing a Good Food Movement. This month, to celebrate pride month, we hear from LAST about their Taste the Rainbow project.
LAST is an LGBTQIA+ ally and support group that runs from
Newhaven Youth Centre every Tuesday from 4.15 – 5.45pm. The aims of our
project are to provide a safe space for all Young people interested in
exploring/learning more about the LGBTQIA+ community”
We discuss topics and plan activities including:
- Drug use in the LGBTQIA+
community - Pride and community
events - Flags and Banners
- Celebrating
international days - Drag designs
- Sexual Health
- IAG and support
- Eat the Rainbow Project
- LGBTQIA+ history
Eat the Rainbow LDFP funded project
Eat the Rainbow is about foods that the young people
love, make them feel better, we include firm family favourite recipes and share
them, we will also be making a booklet of all the recipes, creating a blog and
sharing on social media.
Young People choose 10 recipes and are making notes and
taking pics to build the recipe booklet.
