Sustainable Food Places Day of Action and Celebration – we have the solutions!

On Wednesday 13th November, Lewes District Food Partnership Stef joined food partnerships from across the country in Westminster to show decision-makers the innovative ways that food partnerships are already promoting healthy, sustainable, affordable food in their local communities. The Sustainable Food Places Day of Action and Celebration underlined 10 years of Sustainable Food Places with a call for a food partnership in every area and a Good Food Bill in every nation.

The Soil Association’s SFP Programme Manager Leon Ballin said before the event: “we are calling for a better vision for the UK’s food and farming systems. Local Food Partnerships offer a proven model for addressing food inequalities in some of the most deprived communities and creating a fairer and more sustainable food system. We want the Government to seize the opportunity to adopt and fund Local Food Partnerships in every local authority and to support a Good Food Bill in each nation.”

The event in Parliament was full of opportunties to make the case to support the brilliant work that food partnerships are doing across the country to build a Good Food Movement, with a key note from Kath Dalmeny and a panel featuring best practice from across the SFP network.

As well as representing Lewes District Food Partnership, Stef was attending on behalf of the Alliance for Dignified Food Support, putting dignity on the agenda in discussions around access to food.
