Make Your Own Kebab Workshop with Table Talk Foundation

Chef John from Table Talk Foundation came along to Christ Church in Lewes to show us how to make our own fresh kebabs. With the help of the keen sous-Chefs (aged between 8 and 13 yrs) we made fresh lamb kofte kebabs, falafel, tzatziki and a Greek salad. It was delicious and we learnt a lot including safe knife skills, how to cook meat safely and properly, and some tips for any eager cooks out there: lots of fresh herbs!

Lewes District Food Partnership are really pleased to be able to work with Table Talk Foundation who are a local Food Education charity. They work with schools in East Sussex to improve children’s relationship with food through cooking and tasting new things. Table Talk supports the hospitality industry through encouraging new entrants with training and supporting those that work in the hospitality industry with mental and physical support as well as financial assistance to those in crisis. Plumpton College have a new state-of-the-art kitchen at their campus, which Table Talk use to bring in young students to learn new skills. We are grateful that during the school holidays one of the Table Talk chefs will come to small community groups to run sessions which we were able to offer for free to food bank members in Lewes.
